Jake and Dinos Chapman are duo English visual artists, often known as the Chapman Brothers. In the series of works titled Insult to Injury , Jake and Dinos reworked Francisco de Goya’s The Disasters of War. By changing the visible faces of victims into head of clowns and puppies, the artists provided a new interpretation of Goya’s work. The clowns and puppies’ head are gruesome and disturbing, they conjure images of deranged nightmares.

I personally think the series of works was quite successful, it contain stronger disturbing images, and refresh the old paintings. Through recreate those drawing from Goya, I think the Chapman Brothers are accusing that the controversial past will never be forgotten. Their works are really good for me to look up to, as I can create similar effect from digital program.
